ICM Goes Lead Free with New RoHS Compliant Head Pressure Controls

Tuesday, January 15, 2008

ICM Controls Corporation, a leader in the manufacture and supply of electronic controls to the HVACR industry, introduces its new line of lead-free, RoHS compliant Head Pressure Controls with models ICM325/326/327HN. RoHS is a UK-based initiative that regulates levels of potentially dangerous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. By meeting RoHS compliancy, ICM’s Head Pressure Controls align with a global trend that ensures stricter, environmentally-sound standards are maintained by manufacturers.

ICM’s Head Pressure Controls operate as temperature-sensitive, motor fan speed controls, regulating head pressure by varying the amount of airflow through the condenser, and helping to prevent evaporator freeze-ups, liquid-slugged compressors, low-pressure cutouts, and overshoots common with on/off and pressure-switch controls. They are ideal for use in low-ambient conditions common to supermarkets and frozen food storage, computer rooms and cooling tower fans, and many other temperature/humidity-sensitive environments.

Complementing ICM’s existing line of Head Pressure devices, these new lead-free controls are designed with the same reliable circuitry that has earned ICM its industry-wide reputation for excellence. ICM’s Head Pressure Controls are superior in that they run the motor fan consistently at a lower speed, rather than cycling it on or off; the controls continuously make any necessary temperature adjustments throughout, helping to eliminate inconsistent cooling and system wear and tear.

The new ICM325/326/327HN models all feature integral heat-pump bypass circuitry, an adjustable hard-start, a low-speed cutoff, and a high-temperature bypass. The ICM326/327HN additionally feature an integral transformer for simplified installation, cost reduction, and direct setup from the voltage line. Each provides solid state 10 amp load carrying capability and can control up to 3 refrigerant circuits.

ICM CC750 Wins Product Showcase Award at Comfortech 2007

Saturday, September 29, 2007

ICM CONTROLS’ COMFORT CONTROL CENTER WINS ITS SECOND INDUSTRY AWARD AT COMFORTECH 2007

Enhanced Comfort, Advanced Moisture Control, Improved IAQ,
and Greater Energy Efficiencies Resonate with Judges, Attendees

ICM Controls, a leader in the manufacture and supply of electronic controls to the HVACR industry, announces that its new CC750 Comfort Control Center has won its second major industry award, earning high marks from independent HVAC contractors and experts at the 2007 annual Comfortech Seminar & Showcase, winning a Product Showcase Award in the prestigious Controls category. In 2006, the CC750 earned a Dealer Design Award Silver Medal in the hotly contested IAQ category. The CC750 is the first variable frequency/variable voltage blower motor speed control that provides advanced control of air quality and moisture levels at each individual installation, while promoting greater energy efficiencies.

The CC750 Comfort Control Center enhances comfort and indoor air quality in both residential and small commercial settings by controlling the blower speed in the existing air conditioner or heat pump systems.  As a result, the unit effectively reduces humidity levels by removing excess moisture in the air, creating drier, more comfortable air.  Additionally, the lower humidity levels achieved by the CC750 provides an extra layer of defense for homes and businesses from mold propagation (it has been shown that humidity levels below 55% relative humidity minimize mold growth).  During colder months, the CC750 also provides warmer air discharge temperatures for heat pumps.

By safely controlling both the frequency and voltage to the blower motor, the CC750 can also significantly reduce power consumption to achieve greater overall energy efficiencies. Additional energy savings can be achieved through higher set point temperatures, as the resulting drier air allows the end-user to raise the set point temperature on the thermostat while still maintaining the same perceived level of comfort.  The CC750 also helps reduce fan noise for almost imperceptible fan operation.

The CC750 is a stand-alone product - eliminating the need for additional equipment – and can be used in conjunction with a system equipped with advanced indoor air quality (IAQ) devices, helping them operate more effectively and leading to even greater end-user comfort.

ICM’s CC750 works with standard or inverter grade PSC or shaded pole motors, and is ideal for most residential or small commercial applications.  It uses a simple menu-driven program and can typically be installed by a trained HVAC contractor in about an hour.  It is available through authorized CC750 distributors in 115 VAC (CC750-115) and 230 VAC (CC750-230) models.

ICM Controls, a leader in the manufacture and supply of electronic controls to the HVACR industry, will showcase its new, award-winning CC750 Comfort Control Center, award-winning Universal Motor Starting Relay, and its highly acclaimed SimpleComfort® PRO series of programmable and non-programmable thermostats at the 2007 Comfortech Seminar & Showcase, September 26-29, at the America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri, in Booth # 618.

The CC750 is the first variable frequency/variable voltage blower motor speed control that enables the installer to fine-tune key parameters for advanced control of air quality and moisture levels at each individual installation. The Universal Motor Starting Relay (UMSR) is a wire-for-wire replacement for all standard potential relays that operate a single-phase motor with a voltage range of 110-502 VAC. The PRO series encompasses ICM’s advanced 4000 and 5000 lines of thermostats, including 10 models which are all engineered with exclusive technology, delivering measurable contractor value through simplified installations and increased profitability.

Additionally, the lower humidity levels achieved by the CC750 protect homes and businesses from mold propagation (it has been shown that humidity levels below 55% relative humidity minimize mold growth). During colder months, the CC750 also provides warmer air discharge temperatures for heat pumps. By safely controlling both the frequency and voltage to the blower motor, the CC750 can also significantly reduce power consumption to achieve greater overall energy efficiencies.

Unique to the USMR is its patented differential voltage sensing technology that ensures the exact starting voltage for each motor, every time; there are no user adjustments to make at set-up, making installation easier and more accurate. Additionally, a single USMR unit can be used in place of hundreds of competitive models, translating into a dramatic cost-savings through inventory reduction.

The USMR is available in two standard models: the UMSR30 and UMSR50, which feature 30A and 50A switching capabilities respectively. Two enhanced models are also being offered: the UMSRe-30 and UMSRe-50. The “E” Series models are designed with advanced circuitry that intelligently discharges stray D.C. voltage from the starting capacitor to prevent contactor welding under extreme circumstances. All versions feature a non-positional mounting configuration.

At the heart of the SimpleComfort® PRO series thermostats are two primary time- and money-saving features. The first is the patent-pending SimpleSet™ Target Programming technology. ICM's SimpleSet Target Programming allows installers to transfer configurations and programs from one SimpleComfort® PRO thermostat to another in seconds, without the need for special tools or a computer. The second is ICM Controls’ patented Thermal Intrusion Barrier, an insulation layer that seals off the wall opening, preventing “in-wall” drafts from affecting thermostat accuracy. It also saves installers time by eliminating the need to manually patch up any holes surrounding the wall opening.

Other benefits of the CC750 are that it: helps reduce fan noise for almost imperceptible fan operation; is a stand-along product, eliminating the need for extra equipment; and it can be used in conjunction with a system equipped with advanced indoor air quality (IAQ) devices for more efficient operation and end-user comfort. Additional key features of the SimpleComfort® PRO thermostats include: a large, easy-to-read display with backlight; precise comfort controls accurate to +/- 1°F; manual and auto changeover functionality; permanent memory that maintains memory without batteries; keypad lockout; and soft-touch control buttons.

The CC750 Comfort Control Center, UMSR and the SimpleComfort® PRO series offer technology designed to increase value and end-user satisfaction. For more information on both product lines, visit ICM in Booth # 618 at Comfortech 2007.

ICM Controls Breaks New Ground on Cicero Plant

Wednesday, May 10, 2006

Senator Nancy Larraine Hoffmann (R-Fabius) and County Executive Nick Pirro joined officials and employees of ICM Controls Corporation celebrating the start of construction on ICM's new 75,000 square foot manufacturing facility at the Hancock Air Park in Cicero.

"We have been on a long and difficult journey in which the outcome was never certain," ICM President Ronald B. Kadah said. "Along the way we faced the unpleasant possibility that our plant and people would be located elsewhere. But for the efforts of Senator Hoffmann and County Executive Pirro, the announcement today would have been far different."

Senator Hoffmann said ICM Controls representatives came to her in Spring 2003 frustrated at the inability of existing State economic development agencies and programs to fully address ICM's specific needs.

"It was clear from the outset that much more than traditional grant funding was needed to keep this company and its jobs in Central New York." said Hoffmann. "I knew that other states were offering tempting incentive packages to attract this strong and growing company. ICM made it clear to me that power costs were key to their final decision. I pressed hard with the New York State Power Authority and made them crunch their numbers several times until we got it right. The discount that I facilitated for their electricity convinced ICM that Central New York is the right place for them now and for future expansion." Hoffmann continued.

New Hoffmann grant key to expansion in Cicero
During the ceremony, Senator Hoffmann announced a new $100,000 Legislative Grant which ICM officials have described as instrumental in their final commitment to built the Cicero plant. The new State funds will offset site preparation costs which arose when soil tests revealed the need for substructure work not previously anticipated.

County Executive Nicholas Pirro said ICM Corporation is an important addition to the Hancock Airpark. He said that's why the county and its Industrial Development Agency worked so hard to assist ICM with the 15 acre land acquisition.

According to Pirro, "In addition to the real property, ICM will receive the numerous benefits of being located in an Empire Zone as well as the sales tax exemptions, mortgage recording tax exemptions and PILOT benefits that helped ICM build its future right here in our county." Pirro added that due to Onondaga County's assistance, the community will see the addition of as many as 100 good jobs that will add to the community's overall economic well-being.

"Senator Hoffmann and County Executive Pirro demonstrated how Government can work, and I stress work, for the people," Kadah said. "It was their close cooperation that broke down the obstacles and allowed us to make our final decision. I can say that if all of our Government worked together as the Senator and the County Executive we would all be far better off. On behalf of ICM Controls Corporation and its employees I would like to thank both Senator Hoffmann and County Executive Pirro for their good efforts in keeping our company here in Central New York."

Ron Kadah also thanked Town of Cicero for their good efforts and in particular by making the Town of Cicero a business friendly environment. " We had a lot of choices and many attractive packages placed before us but our experience with the people in the Town of Cicero made our decision easier."

Therefore we are proud to announce that we will be expanding our manufacturing operation in Cicero and that we plan to have our new facility in operation by Spring of 2007.
