POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Master Scheduler develops and manages the production master schedule to maximize resource utilization, control costs, and ensure timely fulfillment of customer demand. This role aligns capacity, materials, and labor requirements with business objectives, actively identifying opportunities to reduce waste, minimize changeovers, and improve operational efficiency. This role coordinates closely with Sales, Operations, Procurement, and Engineering to align demand and supply, manage capacity constraints, and maintain accurate scheduling data in the ERP system.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
- Develop and maintain a cost-optimized master production schedule aligned with customer demand, inventory targets, and capacity constraints.
- Balance demand and supply to minimize overtime, expedite fees, and excess inventory.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Production, and Logistics teams to ensure material and resource availability at optimal cost.
- Analyze demand forecasts, capacity, and material plans to identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend scheduling adjustments.
- Monitor and adjust schedules proactively to avoid production bottlenecks, downtime, or premium freight.
- Maintain accurate scheduling data and cost parameters in ERP systems (Epicor, SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Support Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) by providing cost and capacity analyses.
- Track and report performance metrics such as schedule adherence, cost per unit, and changeover efficiency.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce lead time, scrap, and scheduling inefficiencies..
- Measure and report on Schedule adherence, On-time delivery performance, Inventory and capacity utilization levels, Reduction in schedule changes or disruptions
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
- Labor Category – Exempt/Permanent
- Expected schedule – Monday- Friday 7:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 3–5 years of production planning or scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (ideally Epicor) and MS Excel.
SOFT SKILLS:
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities.
